Class of 1977 - 50th Birthday Bash

Hi everyone,

we have been talking about doing some sort of big gig for the people in our class, since we missed celebrating the 30th reunion (the year our class culminated as Year 12 HSC), we thought it wise to have a big get together for the next big thing, being our 50th birthdays.

Our individual 50th birthdays occur over a period of almost 2 years, some hit 50 at end of 2008, some do not hit 50 until August 2010, so rather try and have several, we would just have a representative party for all, somewhere in the middle, hence the end of 2009 was the chosen time.

I ran a bit of survey a couple months ago to gauge from people when would be a suitable time, to fit in with the majority of people being available and being able to get to Sydney (for those living out of Sydney).

The overall choice was for a Saturday afternoon, in November, I presume this makes sense for people flying in from interstate, being able to fly in Sat morning, stay Sat night and fly out Sunday.

We formed a small committee from people who have been coming to “Get-togethers” that we have had over the last 18 months down at DY RSL, to decide on a venue where we could hold our 50th birthday bash.

What we have come up with is to hold it on Saturday afternoon, 28th November, in a place in Brookvale, it is close the bus route to the city or Manly.

Cost wise, probably around $20 / head (excludes actual drinks), we decided to keep this just as “Student only” event for our class, it would become too bigger event if we had everyone’s partners come along too, but that could change depending how many people can attend.

This is for all students from “our class” and it does include those who left Year 10 1975.

email me asap if you can attend, so we get numbers.

DY RSL luncheon

held 11th January, 2009

It started at 12 noon at DY RSL, people drifted in and out during the day, as their other priorities dictated. We had casual lunch, drinks & coffees, finishing up at 7.30pm. Keen interest for a 50th birthday bash later this year as most of us are turning a young 50 in 2009. Four came down from Queensland, two from Canberra, one from Newcastle, one from Port Macquarie, several from Central Coast, the rest Sydney locals.
